I guess the benefit of overfeeding your character is that you get some of your original LP back too. That is not as easy to regain.
It makes food less valuable than now but still a balance between the current and old system.

Yes. Some systems like this would need for it to be more easy to grind single character than multiple character. Or if not easy, then some other incentive. Maybe over stats cap character will only lose attribute and not LP? Some things like this one.

I think system of unbounded growth for combat potential can not work with developer goal of permanent worlds.

Stats that go over the cap could be rewarded back completely over time, rather than partially. For example, I have 450 strength ( and the cap is 300) and I die and inherit 30% of my previous stats. At first I inherit 90 strength, 30% of 300. Over a few weeks, or something like that the remaining 150 strength that you had go over the cap will be returned to your character in full. Bringing me to 240 strength. This would reward you for working harder to overmax a character. The time gate would be to make sure the punishment for death isn't nullified too much, and to keep combat orientated characters from rejoining the fray instantly. It could even be made more interesting with quest that are used to return those missing stats faster, or we could get a system of sacrifice to the gods back.

this is a pretty cool idea~ but there would need to be a good incentive on putting points into the char after 300~ since making a new alt would be easyer.
Maybe after each set of 300 it would reset the Fep and LP counter basically like making a new char.~
but that still would not give much of an incentive since on death you only get 30% of your stats back...Soo

what if past 300 the stats you gain would be Banked stats so if you die you get w/e amount you had back up to 300 + 30% of your old stats.
That way using the same char would be ideal since you INT would already be so high.
WARNING! MY ENGISH SUCKS.

the idea of dying and basically losing nothing is not very good tbh

I often wonder if its that reasoning that holds this game and its combat back. We all say we love permadeath and that chance to lose everything, but do we really?
Maybe it would be better for combat and the games long term population if we retained more of our stats, and the punishment for death was shifted into different areas.
People may cry heresy at the thought of timegating a character after he dies, but I'm starting to feel like that might be what we need. If you disagree with a time gate then I must ask what you consider losing your stats to be other than a more elaborate time gate. Most people stop playing after a significant loss, because that feels like the only option after you've had your hard work snatched away. That threshold for a lot of people is just the loss of their hearthling, and some sort of time delay on the return of the majority of their stats feels like a possible solution. The stats could even not return at all unless you complete a quest that is only available once a day. Each time you complete the quest 5% of your old stats can return. This would have to account for any stats they gain in the meantime of course. Would have to weight the stats somehow.
Idk I don't feel like thinking this idea out more. TLDR, maybe permadeath isn't right for us.

Hears the thing, right now if your a member of a kingdom, they givr you a state barrual, you get get a bunch of your amount back. But people do take permdeath as once your dead you cannot start a new character, or a character once a world. Plus any numer of ways it can be taken.

To me a bunch of the games issues are in part just based on how the people who play the game, think of the game. Not how the game really is.
