Metal stands are more of a modern design that farriers use. I'd recommend making the anvil smaller and putting it on a wooden block with pegs for hanging things. Either that or implement toolracks.

I honestly think if you want to add an inventory slot to an anvil for the hammer, then you should just add two metal to the anvil's crafting recipe and rename it 'hammer and anvil'
