this isnt true people die all the time form infections that started as minor scratches all the time. an infection can start through any break in the skin. Bacteria such as Klebsiella, Clostridium, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Aeromonas hydrophila are the most common and deadly infection types and are even known to cause Necrotizing fasciitis (NF), commonly known as flesh-eating disease.

In theory you can get infected from the smallest cuts on skin, but the location and size of wound also have a large impact on the chance of whether the wound becomes infected or not.
Most of these infections can be treated these days, but in hearthlands, there are no antibiotics.
