As much as I hate world resets they are a needed evil. Making ANY world permanent does the following:
Game becomes stagnant eventually. "Why can I find q90 clay?" "All nodes are camped by Vets sorry."
Noobs refuse to stick around due to coming up against 11 month vets.
Vets become too strong and can never be caught up to stat wise. (this MAY change with combat stat cap that I am again for and against)
World becomes boring.
If world generated is terrible the only way to fix it is...World Reset.
If a massive change IS implemented imposing it onto an existing world may break the game and make people leave. New people are less likely to return due to the above. However if the new feature is added and the world is reset then new people may start and stay.
And best of all. It is the great equalizer. DIS too strong and owns 99% of the world? NUKE THE WORLD. Wizards own ALL the gold in the world? NUKE IT. AD griefing all the noobs and killing population? INCOMING NUKE! No matter who it is if one faction becomes "gods" and makes the game unplayable to anyone else the devs always have that option of nuke it all. I take solace in this. I think it actually makes some people not go as far as they could. I have seen reddits and forums for other games that do not have the nuke option. I have seen Starbound servers that one faction took over and the devs just tell people to tough it out and try and take back the universe one group now claims ownership too. Or ARK where again a small group took over the server and the devs get money from them so they won't nuke them but they have progressed far beyond anyone being able to stop them. Honestly I think without the devs being willing to reset the world there would be MORE anarchy.
So no. NO world so EVER be permanent. If they ever go that route I hope they allow others to have their own servers then with the ONLY allowable option is: Reset world? Y/N
Again overall a needed evil.
