True which is why I suggested to make them NPC hearthlings that would take something around 750k LP to get the skills to even kill. Then since they are NPC why not just give them god mode or just make them untargetable? Who cares if there is a naked NPC holding a torch in the middle of the wilderness?

Nope. Talking stones and trees are much more better.

DO WANT talking deers and bears too!

Well, I am kinda expecting the guy from the linked thread get bored sooner than 72h. So, the problem might be not that big.

But having some consequences for chopping down a god would be nice.

Just make the spirits of quest givers inhabit other nearby trees/rocks/stumps!

With a small chance of inhabiting the killer (turning him to a tree/rock/stump)! :)

I don't think legit characters should be punished by the game for killing a questgiver. Killing a questgiver should be a valid choice, in the same way destroying someone's boat or harvesting someone's unclaimed crops is. A Trespassing-like scent to have players punish them would be nice, though.

The problem here is newly spawned alts killing questgivers, as they don't need to invest time or XP, or travel any significant distance to get a new quest. Punishment will not help against them; the characters themselves are irrelevant, and even punishing the account is useless as it can be an alt account (as is obviously the case here). There just needs to be some initial obstacle that makes it too much of a hassle to do this; some effort you need to put in before you can find a questgiver to kill.

Regarding a possible 72 hour wait: Be aware that when you're just starting out, you don't have many skills or resources and thus may be left with nothing to do if you play actively enough. Quests remedy this issue, but delaying them by 72 hours may make the early game boring for some. I quite liked having the quest system for the first 72 hours of the world.
