Half the issue with the mechanics they add are that they are too convoluted. What exactly entails someone having taken part in a murder anyways? They aggrod the person that died so now they've "taken part?" And the more steps involved in a process like that, the more cheesy ways to avoid leaving any murder scent at all will be available.
Simple is always better in this game idk why it's so hard for the devs/players to realize that. Complicated things with weird mechanics always lead to issues and abuses around them like visitor and redhanded and adding strange shit like sending a knocked out guy back to his hearthfire with a debuff that essentially makes the character unplayable for no reason does not make sense to me.
Instead, why not something like theft, vandal and battery nidbanes reduce stats instead of HP when they hit you and only the murder scent is actually capable of murdering the player? Giving players false hope that they are going to get a skull because that's the only outcome available is lame.
