If the vandalism actions will be split into construction actions and destruction actions, it would be useful not only for ban the construction actions during the combat, but also claim privileges can be more accurately distributed, which is very handy for public markets, for example, or other public places.

heh then you can just place stockpile

i think placing signs is a pretty cool skill based mechanic,its not really that easy to ideally place a sign on the run in the rush of combat

if you manage to do it you should be rewarded

Alts not engaged in combat would place signposts - whatever.

Won't autoaggro prevent that?

Stop commenting on something you have 0 experience with, it's dangerous - the devs may read it

I wrote a combat system from scratch for another game. Should they listen to me instead?



This is the same discussion we had when people were using scents to summon dead alts to block or trap others in w7. The arguments were literally the same: "it's an exploit", "it's skill-based", "it's legit combat", "it's fun". That mechanic was removed so one would assume the devs don't like this kind of thing.

1) It's not vanilla feature
2) It's gonna mess your opponents list and make targeting harder.

I strongly vote up for removing all non-combat tactics from combat be it buildings/signs/stockpiles or whatever.
There is a way used back in Ultima online and does not require programmatic approach. The legislative approach - submitted video(or other proof since nobody submitted videos at that time due to internet speed:) ) where someone abuses game mechanics to gain advantage in combat == permaban. All known things considered abuse were written in server rules. Everything not written there was trialed by admin team and mostly received softer punishment (like 1-2 weeks ban). This has proven it's efficiency 20 years ago.

The devs have 16 man-hours a day to apply to the game, they probably don't want to spend them going through player reports.

Could be solved by assigning mods to it.

I think ekzarh's solution is pretty reasonable.

This have been working since I play and its a part of it.
What players need is a tutorial so newbs can do it 2.

6 years ago i was in barcelona and a gang agroed me so I started running but i was more clever than them and i placed a bus sign so they smashed theyr faces against an invisible wall. I yelled at them: play haven and hearth you pricks! Then i stole their belongigs and here Im, surrounded by bitches and gold.

I don't care strongly either way, but in this kind of game nobody is apolitical. The current mods were picked to moderate the forum, not the game. Even supposing they picked a new team to moderate those cases, can you imagine how the forum would blow up if so-and-so got banned because of how a Dis mod reviewed an AD case, or vice versa? All I can picture happening is this hypothetical report system becoming the new metagame.

Personally I'd rather not see the devs adding further complications to an already steep learning curve new players have to deal with.

Ideas that haven't been mentioned yet, aside from not being able to place construction signs during combat, would be:

A. to make a delay (hourglass progress bar) for placing construction signs regardless of whether or not you are in combat
B. add more combat abilities that effect mobility to add mechanics based on player skill
1. abilities that effect the cost of stamina when running through buffs It's like drinking while running but not infinite
2. abilities that limit the running speed of players through debuffs. These abilities must require player skill in terms of positioning ect in order to land/avoid these attacks.
3. create openings on yourself to give you a buff that reduces the stamina cost of running at the cost of energy
4. an ability that cost initiative that creates a ring with the center between the user and the target. If either of these players leave the ring before it expires, they revive a debuff that limits their run speed.
5. more interesting combat abilities in general.
