Dream-catcher-collector

Postby Grog » Mon May 22, 2017 10:52 am

Hi all!

As most of you know seer's curios are quite useful.
Because of this vilalges have a metric shitton of dreamcatchers around, and a few poor people to harvest them.

The darn things are hard to click. (Since their creation. I'm a bit sad i didn't find any of the old rants of potjeh and jackard about them...)
And you have to click for every darn dream.

Sooooo.....
.... how about a construction that does a bit of that collecting?
I imagine it as a fancy runed pillar (read: clickable), with about the same style as runestones and dolmen.
This thing would have a (very small) radius from where it collects dreams and a small pool to store them (like 10 or so, similar to the ones natural ressources have).

___
Possible features:
- The Pillar could show dreams either flying around it or glow in a strengh according to the number of dreams collected (the red runen should glow, not the whole ting)
The glowing version might even work as a decorative light source, since torchposts are shit atm... (serioulsy, make torchposts great again!)

- The quality of the dream collector could count, and thus cap the q of the dream, so that manual clicking might still have an advantage. Since I imagine it to be a lategame item (skill req druidic rite ofc), it could need all the annoying ingredients of dolmen and nid fetters (read: mandrakes, wax, dreams and bones)

I understand what you mean and the semi torch effect around it would be cool.

I think the easiest/handiest to fix this is just make an upgraded version of dreamcatcher.

Take original dreamcatcher recipe, multiply materials by 12, and bring it a dreamcatcher harvesting 20 dreams after eachother once you harvest it.

So you pay 20% more material per dreamcatcher, it will be same q as you can make other dream catchers but it auto harvests whatevers inside. (Normally 10 dreamcatchers with 30 mins would give 20 dreams, and you pay for the convenience with the extra materials, but no foreign ones to get a comparable q)

The structure can be different but if you're going to ask for annoying ingredient that would cause lower q than regular dream catcher it still isn't really better.

So what do you think about variation like this?

And why do not you just ask for a conveyor for mass production of curiosities and automatic loading into the student's table? An autonomous drill that searches for and extracts ore and automatically transports ore into the smelter. And a tractor and combine harvester for agriculture. And animals can already walk in fried form.

Because you aren't manually clicking every single crop either.

What's your point 2d0x?

First you criticise the thread by deliberatly misunderstanding it for a plain "meh, make it easier", and now you link a thread that's exactly what you criticised.
I even mentioned in the OP that the topic is as old as the dreamcatchers themselves.

Maybe decide on a single opinion about the topic first? :D

What exactly did I not understand? О_о Your offer is not new, there was no need to create a new topic.

Sometimes a link is just a link; links don't mean a changed opinion ;\

Maybe an upgraded dream catcher could be fun.

If only we could harvest them like we harvest crops.... But we can't do that to trellises, either, so... guess I'm just having wishful thinking.
