There has never been anything more true.
Even if you keep playing you tend to fall behind the curve.... I have no idea how they could fix this though.

Isn't really true anymore. Stats are basically capped in terms of effort to raise and effectiveness. Though a lot of people have trouble getting to that point.

There is a fine line to walk on when discussing a "sessional" world.

There are players who like a slow paced world who don't care at all about the faction wars, or pvp in general.
They would rather work on raising quality of farms, village projects, trading, hunting/foraging, etc.

Then there are the pvpers and big league factions who enjoy the in game politics and the state of war more than other aspects of the game.
These players tend to like a new/fast paced world. The game becomes stale to this player when the world has been In a "quality grind" state for a while, and Pvp slows down (or stops completely).

Not sure of an exact way to solve this issue, but I certainly do not think that a reset every 4 months is the answer.

It is clear that the devs need to become creative and work on content that would make worlds last as long as possible while keeping the attention of all players. Goals are good to have, and the game gets boring when you no longer have any.

We must work as a community to provide the best feedback possible as to what we would like to see in the game.
If J/L start seeing some high quality ideas that are communally agreed upon, I can guarantee you that the updates will reflect it.

I will dare to guess that the majority of players barely participates in forum discussions.

The world is fine and doesn't need to be reset. It's a crap fix anyway. I for one spent too long on my lovely base to kiss it goodbye but that's besides the point.

Point is the game needs more content and better mechanics to keep a player base

Not to mention make it so that PvP isn't the only end game. I want some element that can kill players as effectively, if not more so, than players.

I have a bit of a backlog at the moment, but in principle I certainly try to.

This is what I hate sometimes in communities behind games.

I don't wanna play because I will be behind the curve eventually, etc., etc..

This is like in real life. If someone puts more time and effort into it than You, then stop whining, becuase they can and You don't.
If I play 2 hours, I won't magically want to be in even terms with someone who plays 6 hours or with group of people that too play only 2 hours.

There's always those who are or will be, behind and those, who will take a part in this rat race and be a lot forward than everyone else.
That's another reason why You don't want to die, so You don't get pushed far behind. Not to say, it's lot easier to make a "comeback" now than it was in previous world and it is, even without "abusing" certain stuff.

If You wanna play like a try hard, be a try hard or join a big group or faction, those by definition, will be mostly or even always on top of things.

Most of MMO Games or rather online games, that are not either a RTS or FPS, are a huge catch-up games, unless You play for very beginning and even there, some people will be a lot ahead, just because they can, know how to, git gud, etc..

Getting more back into topic.
I believe people quit, because we have that certain player base who likes to ride and kill noobs, just because they can AND this is a time where many of players are busy with their life mostly.
We have updates, especially lately, that has more heartbreaking effect for playerbase, but I still like that jorb and loftar try hard. Maybe even too hard, without talking to playerbase, but alas, most forum users are PvP oriented, only small of PvE and every update is always controversial for one side. I can't blame them for not listening to "us" but there's as much "+" as "-" to this. Perhaps, giving us maybe even a smallest of talks, will have some effect.

While I consider @LadyGoo is exaggerating here much, there's still valid points to look at.

In real life it doesn't matter how much somebody trains, they'll never be 10x stronger than somebody who doesn't train at all. As for other MMOs, virtually every single one has a stat cap and no permadeath, so eventually everyone achieves equal max power level.
