I got attacked by a tick the other day. I was chatting with someone in the front paddock of our farm and I saw a small red spider looking creature. Next thing I knew it had jumped half a meter up my leg and was already biting me. I ended up ripping it of and crushing it with a rock after my boot couldn't get the job done.

^^ My mother, she lives out there, got one last year on the back of her shoulder, but for some reason didn't notice it and it had actually buried itself under her skin by the time they became aware of it ... how could you not know it was there!?

Surely you would feel it ... makes me shiver just to think of it!

I got bitten by a spider last time I was there and it swelled up into this huge ball, lol, they were like "stop fussing about it, it wasn't poisonous, you'll be fine" ... :? ... it was like the size of a ping pong ball and it really hurt! I popped it with a needle in the end as it was just getting bigger and bigger, lol, it wasn't nice but it went back down after that. :D

No, they're actually very easy to miss. They just give a slight itching sensation, no real pain.

Also, regarding their addition to the game, I would suggest that characters have a chance to get them after standing motionless on a forest terrain for longer than a certain amount of time. Because most of the time ticks only go after people who are motionless.
