I think melding should simply add up the LP, XP and study time of the source items to determine the resulting curiosity properties.
Then we could prepare stuff for a longer holiday and it couldn't be exploited as other suggestions in this topic would be.

Also I think that Curio combos are interesting and should be given a thought.
