Imagine if H&H had no farming.

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

I kind of agree here, at least where one thing is concerened, trees in the world should have randomized quality similar to how clay/water/stone/sand is to make tree farming less of a necessity

Similarly, anything that can be infinitely grinded should have diminishing returns.

I also like the idea that farming foods don't get better FEPs but rather improved energy value, decreased hunger value is just as good as increased FEPs though, if not better.

What do you think would change?
What would be the new meta?
Would hunting and foraging be more rewarding?

Thoughts and discussion please.

I imagine i would quit Haven. Foraging is no longer as fun as it was to remove that would leave little other than design for me.

Farming was a major breakthrough in human history, which led to the creation of large cities and all the things that come with them. Despite being requested repeatedly, the game doesn't have any kind of nomadic content. But if hunting and foraging were the main activity in haven one would assume that would change, and that would be cool. Implementation of specific animal nodes and hq animal migration waves could also encourage players to move around and interact more, just like that hunger game's clock arena thing.

Instead of a complete absence of farming, what I think would be interesting is if it took us much longer to develop such a skill and therefore created a sense of technological progression. Right now we're able to begin planting stuff in one or two days after the world start, so developing agriculture doesn't feel like an achievement at all.

Completely agree. The devs are always asking us suggestions for endgame content, but they don't realize that there's a lot of content to be added in the early and middle game in order to make the endgame come later. I personally like very much the first days of the world, everyone exploring the world and looking for resources; with a mandatory nomadic period, this "scramble for Haven" would be more exciting.

Unlocking certain things through a more globalized technology tree could be an interesting thought, at the very least.
