Agreed. The proposed idea would make people have to choose between aesthetics and efficiency. That's not good, imo. The best villages would almost inevitably be fugly.

Complex paintings can require over 1000 psyche, barrels of linseed oil, and a bunch of time to gather all of the materials to make a bunch of each dye. The cost itself is completely fine, as it dissuades people from just uploading any image they want and spamming the world with it, but as I said, there just isn't much of a reason to create a painting in the first place. Paintings would probably see more use if they were more convenient to use. The current gilding system encourages creating 100s of one clothing piece and gilding each one and recycling the pieces that use up the gilding slot. With the current requirement of having to craft each clothing piece with the sketch, the impracticality is so high that you are being forced to choose between stats or a nice looking cape. Make sketches more convenient to use or give them an incentive give to use them. Anything to make spending time on painting justifiable.
Oh man. Heraldic clothes definitely need to be easier to craft if the gilding system stays as it is. Maybe we should have the option to apply sketches to finished clothes.
Is it possible to recycle heraldic capes that have different sketches from one another? If so, you could use a transparent sketch on all capes except the final one.
