Unless it would either be heavily moderated 24/7 (and the moderators could permaban accounts from it) and/or the users could mute a certain character (and in case many do it it'll global mute that account) - both things that sadly but most likely would be a quite regular event - I see little good coming from that suggestion... sorry, pessimistic regarding this as of my experience with the forum.

Help and dating.
Set of people for settlements and activities for example, events on Saturdays in the CF).
Purchase and sale of game items.
Chat can be paid (for example, the opportunity to write is given to people who have a subscription or bought cheap special items, but anyone can write a response to a private chat on an active nick).

However, I don't insist.
Excuse me, I don't speak English.

Don't get me wrong, a global chat could be a good thing - question is if that goal would survive the user base, as some dickheads could ruin it for everyone. So functioning countermeasures would need to be in place from the start.

Back to topic: the game needs to explain itself better to new users.

judging from the fact that i can say almost anything i want on the forums, i highly doubt they would give 2 shits and a fucksickle what was said in a chat tab as long as it wasnt some korean mmo gold seller bullshit or someone spamming racial slurs all day long. as for the ability to mute somebody so you personally dont see anything they say, i find that a very helpful feature that is necessary for every chat. furthermore, when i mute them, i dont want them seeing anything i say.

but yeah a chat would help massively. theres usually around 200-300 people online when i play now, and it would be nice to be able to interact with one of them in a way other than randomly happening across them in the wilderness and hoping their sword is shittier quality than mine, or have a conversation with my neighbors without shifting between 30 PM tabs or walking all the way over to their farms.
