First how would we cut away the poison in mostly liquid material? Well first you'd probably boil or cook out and separate all its toxins, not cut it away. So not really cooking skill beyond knowing how to boil.

The fugu cooker has to have the licence after 2-3 apprenticeship in Japan. So, it could be said that cooking poisonous fish/whatever requires skills.

Great, let's do that inside the game too.

As there is no master noone can teach, thus no license to do it at all.
Who would want to eat slime anyway?

I like the ideas about the marmelades though, we just need a source for sugar - processing honey (boiling with water, let it sit in the sun in a tub to crystalize) is the most likely candidate.

Don't be silly. Just get high enough cooking to not to get poisoned = meaning for high cooking skills.

Maybe you misunderstood what I was getting at. Cutting toxin out of slime, wouldn't be consistent logic because slime is likely a non-newtonion fluid. You don't "cut" fluids, you boil and cook them. And if slime was poison, you wouldn't likely nuetralize the poison by cutting it away, because most likely all of the fluid would be poison. The best way to seperate elements in a liquid is by boiling. Slimes would be a great way to introduce Alchemy/Chemistry, but a terrible way to implement a Fugu Fish like mechanic. For that I think Cave Fish would make for more interesting fishing, and cooking direction for such a mechanic.

Why not just get sugar from beets tho.

You're not very well versed in various cooking techniques, obviously. And then there's actual chemistry (materials interactions) involved in cooking in that knowing how to apply the right amount of heat for the proper temperature range, separation of substances (or the prevention thereof), and all kinds of other little trickery that's used. I think Goo has a good idea there.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

So you think cutting away a fluid, that looks to have the consistency of cornstarch or less solid jello (once the electricity/life has stopped) is the smarter way than boiling it and separating out the poison like you would fat from soup? Hell freezing/cooling then cutting it would make sense but not straight up cutting away the toxin. Please do me a favor, and go make two batches of cornstarch, one smaller batch of dyed cornstarch , and then just layer one on the other, or put a couple drops in, your choice really. Then try to seperate the two. Tell me how that knife cutting goes. Sure you'll seperate it if you cut enough away, but what about what's mixed in or hidden? Chances are the two liquids are of different density, and you will more easily seperate them by boiling.

And stop assuming what I do or do not know. You've been wrong more than once now, and I don't appreciate you being condescending.
