Imagine fight was hard enough you don't have to rely on decay for game play.

your not relying it just might make the fight more exciting. I'm not sure though cause neither of these things are in the game

Having failure modes for tools, at least some that decrease the quality, would make sense as that would encourage trade and act as an item sink.

The current mode of having an item at qX and it'll stay like that forever (ok, till the ganker KOs you) is IMHO a sad state and one of the reasons for runaway quality.

Note: I don't say that such failures should occur the same frequency as with cutting gems. But (as example) sawing up a log into boards should take some toll on the blade.

also what if crafting had a chance to be unsuccessful?
do you guys think this would be a good idea for this game?

Why would this be a good idea for the game?

It's not like we punch stones and trees to quickly recraft our top q tools on-the-go

Trades wouldn't be final (in the sense of the tool lasting eternally) - as they currently are for many, it dosn't really matter when the saw they bought is only +250q (over what they can make withing the next months) instead of a fresh +260q one they could buy. Would be different in case these would degrade.

But as you punch stones and trees to quickly recraft your top q tools on-the-go on a constant basis anyway, why do you have a problem with this?

Maybe just q go slowly down or have a chance to go down when you use item?

Personally, I don't like the idea of decay, I realise it would be good for trading but I've played games with decay and it's not only boring, you eventually lose heart when you are constantly having to repair everything. I don't play them anymore. The main one I played with a decay system has now removed it ...

I'm not a huge fan of how a high q tool can be used endlessly and for anything without a second thought, as it really devalues even just slightly lower qualities to nothing, but I'm also not a big fan of decay. Not in any hurry to do something like this.
