balls of steel

you said it yourself, they do minuscule damage. why not add some sort of a costly improvment? its not like im suggesting we throw improved rocks, or something common as dirt. im talking about using up METAL to improve the damage.

i thought of spikes before i even made the thread, but i thought that it would be unrealistic as the spikes would damage the sling itself if this were real life.

Short of some "trick shot" YouTube videos, I've never seen anyone use spikes in a sling. And no, they wouldn't necessarily damage the sling as you put the blunt end in the pocket. Spikes, darts, and other such missile weapons correct their path of flight if released at anything other than the optimal flight angle.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

yes but those are missile weapons, something a sling would throw would need a large flat area to put in the sling itself, making for a lot of wind resistance. it just doesnt seem practical.

what lmao, no. the wind resistance is nothing if the missile is very dense.

You could leave the side that touches the sling without spikes.

yeah but whats the guarantee that the spiked side hits the target then? do slings really launch projectiles with no spin whatsoever?

best projectlies for slings are elliptic. Romans made them with clay, hardened in fire or at the sun, wich may be totally possible and very interesting, no much difference than a bow, so can do.

i just looked up what you mentioned and i would love to send a barrage of those whistling bullets at whatever animal im hunting that day.

and before you say it, yes i know you meant the solid stone and clay ammo. but i read about the whistling bullets just below that.
