Legacy: fields decayed. They had to be plowed constantly. It was annoying how much they had to be plowed... like might as well replow the entire field per harvest as it could be half or more of the tiles. Carrots were the exception in that you might only have a couple tiles, under 10%, to replow per planting.
w8 on: field tiles don't decay at all. In fact, they spread if conditions were met. Nonsensical at the least. At least you don't have to replow every planting.
My thoughts: it's a game. A bit of simulation of reality is nice, but if I want more than a bit of that, I'll set up a farming simulator (they do exist) or go actually farm (which I do during those months in my backyard). The lack of reverting fields on claims would be a great addition if it's practical.
