Let me imagine what my w6 hermitage farm would have looked like with all those icons... No, I'd rather not see that, even though I get the reason why.

Would be nice to have a way to try to track down a stray animal, even if not easy.

How about branded animals then?

Oh yeah, that's a great idea.
Total misplay.

W7: Semi-Hermit
W8: Semi-Hermit
W9-15: Lawspeaker of villages of myself-4 people.
W16: Hermit

OP, what u describe is not smart horse - it's a magic car, which no one can stole and will tp to u by ur wish.
U should go further with this concept and ask about summon boat (cart, wagon, knarr, entire house with claim) magic - why stop on halfway.
There example of really smart horse - it's a horse which will try to return to ur claim after restores from KO state or ceases to be pursued by the beast.
Or it's a horse that can keep distance that u set against ur target.
Something like this - at least it makes some sense, instead of horse with 2 crutch which made purely from game mechanic.
+1 to toogle for set on/off display of domesticated creatures icons on minimap btw.

As I say, I'm for a good means of tracking down strays, but icons aren't the way (if you can't see the animal, you aren't going to see the icon, anyway, due to server limits), and I'm against overly magical means. I think that the very low fantasy setting of Haven is one of its appeals.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Wouldn't hate if animals had more personality and could be bonded with, but it's a big topic.

I only meant for the horse that you claim to have an icon, not every animal

I have already stated that Im not for the teleport option, im more into it having some kind of follow mech that allows it to walk back to after you use hearthmagic at only a certain distance.
Having it teleport would be OP yes, especially in combat or other things.

It might not be as hard as you think to implement, it wouldnt be easy per say, but having a player own a horse would be no different than a personal claim, and having the hearth magic activate a follow mechanic back to your character. The path finding system may have some issues with that though.
