Every time I read something like this I think , how will it be abused ? how will it affects my gameplay.
first answer that come to mind is :
I simply won't use curios from dream anymore without a proper reliable source of dreams.
People will find a way to bot the lore events.

What do you suggest next? Removing the stone from the stone axe? Everyone knows that a dream is required to light a hearth fire.

mandrake root(hard) or irrlight(easy) can be used instead

Spawn the character with a dream in the inventory so that he could change the location of his fire once (and have a different kind of dream needed to stake a claim)?

You stated that you thought about tying dreams too sleeping (which is defined as not playing), thus to not create a catch 22 there should be a way to move the hearth fire after spawning...

I suggest making it cost 100 xp to light a hearth fire. Make a pile of sticks for a fire as normal, but have a special spell you get right off the start with this cost that makes it a hearth fire.

Would like to see the trigger pulled on this one, do the nightmares, and lets see some cool, twisted curios come out from making them with nightmares.

@synaris: wasn't planning on merging them, as I agree that's about the staff. Was just using it as an (one of several) examples. Probably why LadyGoo posted this thread as the whole thing could use a fresh coat of varnish on the discussion.
