I just figured if metal was cold, such as in the caves, it would work ... but tbh idk ... guesswork, lol.

I just want to keep snow and the compresses longer than one day. :)

Metal objects usually feel cold because it's good conduit and essentially sucks the heat out of your hand. However in warm environment, it will quickly warm up. Dark metal objects can become much hotter than the air if they absorb direct sunlight.

Yeah I know they get hot in warm conditions, like the inside of your car. :D

This idea seems pretty cool, and I think it might be a neat addition but I don't know if it would fit in with the rest of the game.

Cold storage - stupid idea.
Snow - is unique item for healing, means that you must have access to mountain to fight concussions.
Maybe there can be a rule like work hard - gain more.
So making big snow stockpile melt slower by parts than just snow, expanding time to 24-36 hours would be cool

I do not understand the logical reasoning behind this.
Why does it have to be metal? you can put anything in cold cave and it will get cold.
Wood would be way better insulator in any case.

I have no idea how this would work, but maybe you could have multiple layers of metal, then heat the air very hot and seal the layers. Then there would be airtight space between the metal layers working as an insulator, and as the air would cool down, air pressure would decrease, and thus thermal conductivity decrease even further. Kind of like a thermos bottle.

:? ... the title of the thread ... at the time we were talking about metal cabinets ... personally I don't care what material is used, I just want to be able to store the snow and the compresses for longer.

Yeah, I think that makes sense, I'd prefer the time period to double.
