It is not meant for that, no, and measures should be in place to prevent that them from being used to prevent sieges.

Maybe if the walls or support have damage soaked by the shield, it starts decaying these right away, and they break relatively fast in a siege--two, maybe three shots from a siege weapon. This would allow owners to use them (since they bypass shield) and be of little to no defensive value if attacked.

This does give me a bit of a thought on changes to siege, but that's for another thread, I think.

Great idea. I knocked down a gate this morning to rekey it, and ended up replacing the entire side, plus two other sides and cornerposts, and had to scramble to get it done before I logged off.

Hopeful bump because Jorb is back and i need to replace my walls soon.

Good idea, but cost could be a bit higher, maybe make it require steel.
Also only applicable to cornerposts.
