That's why you stack the wood by type.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

Vertical rack for barrels

Postby Necroliter » Tue Feb 26, 2019 4:55 pm

With the increased diversity of liquids and liquid-like substances I found myself struggling with neat and comfortable organization of barrels.
All the different types of syrups, flour, seeds, milk and other substances require new and convenient way of storage!

I suggest new structure - Barrel Rack. (Can be lifted while empty? Somewhat convenient, but not exactly necessary.)

Resource cost: up to Jorb/Loftar. I suggest it`s middle-tech structure, maybe some bone glue or common metal.

Function: Ability to load and store barrels on the rack (same as loading cargo into the cart).
Right-Clicking barrel on the rack will allow player to take it off and place in desired location.
Right-clicking rack with a barrel will place barrel on one of the empty spots (if any).
Capacity around 4-8 barrels.

Minor usability feature: Not sure if possible to implement, but it will be handy if barrels on rack can display their corresponding label, same as barrels on the ground.

Pretty sure this suggestion has made the rounds before. Sure imo, but I don't see it as high priority and it probably takes a notable amount of work. In that sense I'd throw it under "when the devs are bored".

In the meantime using carts is very efficient.

While it is not new, it feels ugly to me to necro old posts from 2016, or other without any details.

Can it be useful and will it be built? Most likely yes. So i don`t see why this idea is bad.

P.S. We keep getting more barrel-stored substances, so demand for barrel rack only increases with time :)

Ugly or not is a personal thought. We ask that people not repeat exactly what's already been posted. Some of it is on the development radar and is just awaiting for a time in the "priority queue," other suggestions have been firmly decided against, but most are just suggestions just waiting for someone to add to it. Why rehash all the old arguments when we don't have an issue with saying "Here's this idea, and I think this is why it should be added that nobody mentioned before."

Most forums have rules about necroposting. we don't have explicit rules on it, just ask that you don't do so without at least adding something to the previous conversation.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

The storage system of barrels and logs must be in such games, because, not everyone wants to be sloppy pigs) Give something for the perfectionists :!:

it would be nice if barrels weren't the only things that can be stacked like this, crates/chests and similiar objects should be possible to be stacked too if stacking will be implemented

sounds good, so maybe they could add some universal rack for all kinds of objects? and maybe some racks for certain objects only

and speaking of racks - I think it would be nice to have weapon/tool racks - could be either built on the ground or attached to a wall of a building (why not both?)
