Even assuming the existence of 100% sandbox creative tools for people to reconstruct these extremely elaborate places, it would still take a lot of effort. Again with Aurora as an example, there was plenty of planning and designing and extremely detailed decorating. Just the terrain leveling with the terraced areas and connecting ramps would take time to recreate again. Hell, even the roads had that detailed concave design everywhere. That work adds up. Terrain might not be a major issue for fairly flat cities like CF, but instead there would be the issue of replicating all the (BRING ME... A) shrubberies, trees, market stalls and individual designs if you wanted to be really precise. And that detail is what makes these places great.
I'd really like to see great cities and monuments saved for future use, but unfortunately the same attention to detail and effort that goes into making them is an issue with preserving them, in that method.
