Well, that's true if someone's so prepared, they have 7 different stones to mark how much bombs around certain spot.

And almost no one is. Exactly the problem

this is kind of a stupid idea when you can already pave

who in the actual fuck cares about needing to color-grade literally anything

i cannot relate to this idea at all

I will just use paving. I think I do not like idea of contriving new feature to solve this when existing feature already works.

Let us just paint colored X es on walls and stuff at the cost of some paint.

What a bad idea.

It doesn't fit with the theme of the game.

Simple way of doing it with a single color:
1) If cave dust, pave. If no cave dust, do not pave. Never count the cave dusts on a tile.
2) Around any not paved tile you may mine all its 8 neighbours.

It's way simpler than actually playing minesweeper. And if you are in a precious ore vein and paved tiles block your advancement into the ore vein no matter what you do, sacrifice your principles and build just one mine support. But only if you miss out ore by being surrounded by paved tiles in the apparent direction of the vein and you are sure you will mine more than 10 ores for one mine support.

Edit: 3) Get the event where you open a small cavern and die. Because that event breaks several tiles and none of them show any cave dust though some definitely should.

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

I'm in general agreement that this is already easily managed in the game. there's not a need for it, just a want.

I like this idea better.

Agame wrote:Simple way of doing it with a single color:

this is my strategy until i get a bar for a support. Kicker is with the new mining rules, you might want to stick to playing minesweeper until you can build strong supports so you don't dig out the cave in tiles and cause your supports to break. We'll see how much damage the supports can take when the world starts and mining kicks off.

What about just plain having flags for decoration? Maybe a tall one you have to build and small ones to hold in your hand slot for aesthetic like how you can hold flower boquets.

And/or, the ability to put an x or tag things with a custom sketch. Cave paintings!
