add on idea

man lifting kite

a expensive silk kite made to hold a hearthling

attached to a special foundation hearthling can ride the kite up much faster at sun up and sun down (temp changes cause wind)

once up greater veiw distance but desent and ascent is slow and kite easyly broken from ground causing big dam to hearthling in kite when is broken and they fall from the air

add boulder and slower ascent and can drop things from the air

seems like crazy idea but love the original idea here

Antibiotics, CPR, defibrillators, etc etc... yeah, a lot of people survive such things due to modern medicine where they would have had a 50/50 chance at best even just 100-150 years ago.

CPR, defibrillators

I highly doubt that they help. Lightning strikes on humans probably happen on remote areas anyway (because in populated areas there are better places for the lightning to hit, such as high buildings)
You would be brain-dead far before the ambulance got to you.

Lightning strikes are far more common in urban areas, more to the point, suburban... golf courses seem to be a frequent story (fun fact, Florida is the highest incidence of human lightning strikes in the US, if not the world... too many stubborn golfers, maybe?) There are several reasons for this.

Yeah, a direct strike is going to likely kill the person, though there are odd stories here and there where people have lived. For those that aren't killed immediately, prompt medical attention is the biggest deciding factor just like with any other form of stroke, cardiac arrest, etc. If burns are the worst result of a lightning strike, just getting attention so they don't get infected is key (and in the modern world with high levels of sanitation like indoor plumbing and clean food, infections are much less likely than they were 100 years ago).
