I mean... if this is an intentional mechanic there's no reason we can't force people holding it to stay online.

But the general concept of vaults still stops that being relevant.

I'm seeing this as more the old dragon raids in Everquest where two (or more) guilds fought over the right to kill a dragon each week, and then usually ended up fighting over claiming the loot after the kill (PvP servers). And sometimes were fighting each other the whole dragon fight (and dying in huge masses cause the aoe would wipe everyone out.)

Given the nature of wounds and such, I don't think we'll see that much fighting over something... at least not until we see a bigger population over the course of a world and more loot worth the effort put into it based on cost of the fighting.
