I will admit that I find the ability to hold a waterskin in your belt to be abhorrent due to the massive amount of abuse that takes place as a result. I can't think of any reasonable way to overcome this issue, however, as less waterskins in belts just means more waterskins in inventory. Thankfully they've removed the ability to hold items in a belt in your inventory, however.

I do feel like 6 slots is a bit much for such an early game belt.

I don't, it's QoL when juggling tools.

Though I see a problem should the later (=troll) one(s) be able to hold several cupboards of waterskins.

Arbitrary limitation of 1 waterskin per belt?

I'm not fond of arbitrary restrictions, but I don't think cutting down the number of slots is a good alternative either. I like me some QoL

That early in the game I don't need six slots for tools; since I got my snakeskin belt, I've had two tools and four waterskins on it. Now that my metal production is finally going somewhere the other slots are becoming useful, but the only tools for me to carry around before that were my axe, my saw and my shovel (and even the latter is only rarely necessary).

I think the proper solution here would be to just accept only one item of each type. That is, only 1 Waterskin, only 1 Waterflask, only 1 Bone Saw, only 1 Metal Saw, etc. You'd still get people carrying around 5 liters of water, but it's a lot less excessive than having people carry around 18 liters.

Wanderer's Bindles are quite nice to carry with you as inventory expanders, as is a shovel.

Sounds somewhat reasonable, though I prefer to be able to carry two skins (so I don't have to refill constantly) and two bindles (as a shovel needs two hands).

Yes, that's the thing. 'Quite nice'. 'Quite nice' things are supposed to be the incentives for you to upgrade to better gear; the earlier stuff should cover what you need but you should want to upgrade to better gear to get benefits that aren't needed but are just nice to have. As it is right now, I'm quite happy with my Snakeskin Belt and I doubt I'll be upgrading it until the day I get a Troll Belt.

I'm also currently quite happy with the snakeskin one, but I think that will change when there's more stuff to carry around (weapons, pick, scythe, cleaver, ...) so I won't wait for a troll belt.
