My favorite part is when the thing despawns. Truly quality gameplay.

The best part is when the fleeing boar which you have been chasing and punching for 5 minutes suddenly decides to strike back and beats you up.

If anything hunting is too easy and simple.
Spawn in enough alts and you can kill anything. Abuse pathfinding+bleed with aggro and you can patiently wait for it to die. Chase it into a cliffside and finish it off when you have enough unarmed combat and strength... Everyone in this thread is expecting an easy boar kill with a naked fist, because the earlier worlds allowed you to suffer trying to do it. There should be a stronger reinforcement of distinct technological progression to hunting and doing things as nearly naked as the day you started should be disallowed.

You don't chase a rabbit through terrain that won't let you sprint. The optimal strategy for hunting rabbits in forest is using a sling to kill them. So, why would you try to hunt an animal that moves faster than you do without using a horse? Hunting with a horse is the optimal strategy for animals that run away faster than you do.
Want a permanent horse so you don't rely on spawn RNG and a clover? Build the infrastructure to support a tame horse and then when it's setup; tame the next horse you find.

If what you're doing doesn't work, you're doing it wrong.

Not sure if You dumb or wanna sound like a dumb person.
The problem is that after bats, everything beside boar outruns You and You have no way to catch up, other than immediatly peaceful and hopping that animal blindly goes into V cliff or shore. While this tactic as well as "let it bleed out" is effective somewhat in getting the corpse, YOU DON'T GET COMBAT DISCOVERIES, WHICH YOU NEED TO PROCEED INTO HIGHER ANIMALS. BUT HOW CAN YOU PROCEED IF IT SPRINTS AWAY AND WITHOUT CHEESING, YOU HAVE TO HOPE FOR BLIND LUCK.

Fuck You and your "alt" method. It exist because of no way to catch up and I'm getting tired of my pray bleeding out while sprinting like F1 from me and I'm not getting LP for the kill nor combat discovery, just corpse I don't really need. That's why like the rest of player base I either get a horse and boring sideswipe method or just prepare a no fun trap where I just close it out and beat it with punch to death, which is also un-fun.

This isn't how it pragmatically words though.

You don't hear about alt swarms because it's fucking stupid. It's annoying, it's a hassle. It's not worth a q1 moose to spend the 20 minutes gathering shit for the 10+ alts it would take to get it, get all the seeds and shit for like 6 UA, all so they can die or get gravely wounded and be worthless. It ruins the quality, making the entire hunt worthless. It's a silly delusion and I don't know how it cropped up. Spruce cap ideas again.

Also, wounded animals have no business taking off at faster than light speeds.

To quote "the book:" "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

take that to mean what you will.

Aceb wrote:combat discoveries

Is a problem with the final results of combat, not the combat itself. If you could gain discoveries per attack made on a creature you could progress your combat skills with even one attempt.

Massa wrote:You don't hear about alt swarms because it's fucking stupid.

Stupid enough that it needed to be fixed by the developers by making them reduce quality for each attacker.

Massa wrote:Also, wounded animals have no business taking off at faster than light speeds.

Agreed, wounds on animals should impact their escape directly.

Your position on "alt swarm" kinda shows you know nothing on the matter. Devs didn't fix anything except letting the animal to break stuff when fleeing, but there's already a workaround on that.

On the topic. Why don't you use a wild horse for your running needs? Too fun for you?

the only way I can hunt is horses. but honestly it drives me semi nuts that every time i go out. i need a horse.
I'm back to cheesing the fking wild animals into my bolder traps.

legit. I'm walking around with a wagon filled with bolders to setup hunting traps.

Solution. if animal is above 25% HP it can run normal and full speed sprint.
if it's lower equal to or lower then 25% it crawls the fk away and trys to call for back up or something.

so tired of every animal just booking it at mock speed. lost so many goats today >.<

You could try taming one or few so you never ever have to look for a wild one. I'm sure Ozzy could make a guide for that one too
