IDEA: portable study desk!

I like the idea of a portable version of the study desk, for when one wants to travel light for a longer time.
Downside would be that it would effectively a specialized inventory for curiosities.

No idea though why Burinn is against it, as it certainly would be the choice of having a normal one or the mobile version active.
Possibly it only read the first sentence.

Only if it takes backpack slot. Also, wouldn't a nomad make and collect curios on the way?

Yeah most of the time thats what happens what i was proposing is for when you can't play for a few days, so you can still make a little progress.

I should probably add that they are mutually exclusive to the OP.

I don't like the idea specifically because the current study desk is portable, and one of the largest inventories in the game. A better suggestion would be a way to easily claim your cart/wagon while offline, a better pullable cart that can hold 12 items, and a better raft. That stuff would do a lot more to help nomads then your study idea.

I don't know if study desks work while in a cart, but if they don't, they should.

How does the equipable study actually help nomads?

PS. Bruins is only mad because Mafious was acting like his idea was so good that only people trolling could possibly dislike it. Everyone has got to remember that text always comes across a little more dickish than we intend <3.

Desks don't work inside leantos carts etc. It helps nomads to still make progress by having a way to study curious while not having a normal study desk. The choice is size vs mobility.

Let say during normal play you carry the empty study hat/satchel in your inventory, before you log out you equip your study hat and put a couple of curios in it. You can't store curios inside unequiped study hats and you can't carry full study hats in your invetory (like the deal with empty/full) buckets.

Those at some good points. I wasn't sure if studies stopped working in carts, thanks for informing me.

Nomads completely need a way to use a study desk like item, and it being a niche play style is no excuse for this specific feature. I would still think that nomads would be better off having the desk work in a cart/leanto, but they do need something.

We could have both, the regular studydesk for those who like hauling a cart everywhere and my thing for traveling light. But i think studydesk used to work inside leantos and carts and jorbtar changed that.

Nothing works while in a cart except for animals decaying. you can't stop the decay process.

Should it be added... /meh

I'm against the idea of a desk you carry in your pocket or personal inventory. But yes, while in a wagon or knarr, where a normal study fits perfectly, it should work.

Nomadic in real history was actually 2 life styles:

1) Either born nomadic, in a tribe, having nothing but your life (no claim) your horse and your bow and arrows, not even knowing how to plant a crop and not caring about it. Those would never have a study desk or an anvil and would never mine for metals and this is right. That is why they got extinct, and that was also right.

2) Rich people, having a big claim in the world with everything in it and servants (including study desks) would choose to "see the world" for a few years or send their children (alts) to do it. Those would travel in comfort and would gain LPs while traveling. But they would not travel without some vehicle having enough inventory to carry a study table, a simbel table and chair, possibly a meat grinder and cauldron for new meals, etc. They are not some savages.

For both roles, study table should stay an object not a backpack as it is, but it should work in vehicle inventory.

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.
