Yes.
I want to wall off new players at the cost of some stone as well.
Lets make new player farms a thing.

Okay, here is a scenario, WHY You don't want that. Since You still don't see the obvious problem.

1. You build a base.
2. You don't metal yet.
3. Mean people come and wall You off with stone fence that YOU can't destroy without pickaxe, because You wanted a very quick & cheap palisade.
4. Profit.

Please, don't be cheap. Just do what every player does and progress up high enough to build palisade. It's NOT that hard.

Give it a soak time then?

Again, I said it doesn't have to require a pickaxe. I see your point, but you're missing the part where I said "maybe" require a pickaxe, not "oh yeah no one can break it without one"

Aside from walling someone in, which can be circumvented by having a cornerpost require bone glue and perhaps clay, what others might there be? I admit the idea isn't fully rounded and i likely haven't been able to think of ever scenario, which is why i'm curious

Because saying a bone glue, You're already going for palisade. It's a fence. Fences aren't for protection. Walls are for protection. There's no middle ground between Pali and fences because You either making Pali looks stupid or fences too powerful. Please, just go for the palisade.

And adding something easy to get like sand and clay, You're not changing anything. That's the problem. On the other hand making it extra stone sinking even, will make it just everyone angry that they can't use it for cosmetic purpouses.
