One time I plant some tree and when I am done I mistake drop empty pot on top of tree and walk away before I notice. I am unable to recover this pot and must chop down tree I just plant to get it back! This is very irritate to me.

It is very annoying when you for accidentally drop something, for example, from smelter to the ground.
Then you must spend an eternity to click the item at just the right angle, so your characters center point will get to position of that object without being blocked by the smelter.

What about something like the new 'push' move but called 'reach'? Grabs the nearest object on the ground within 'reach'. With the 'reach' being something like half a tile or w/e. Anything more than 1 could potentially be used to exploit items through walls so it would probably have to be at most 3/4 to 4/5 of a tile distance or so.

Yes..So many times I accidentally drop something and it's just barely clipping under and object, and apparently my hearthling is too stupid to bend over and pick it up.

Make it take something like 5 seconds to do, so it can't be terribly abused

Picking up and maybe some other actions like paving? I like this for those rare occassions your stuff gets stuck.

If wall size is x then if we set heartling's reach to l such that l < x then there is no possiblity of exploiting through walls xD. Anyways who drops valuable items on ground near walls when there are some suspicious guys nearby? It's not problem if we could grab someone carrot through wall, why there are always ppl who imagine strange stuff happening?
