There is already a large buildings great for storage. the great hall.

You don't want to spend materials on it, or on large chests underground or whatever, so you are looking to add another building that would just be a cheaper great hall? It's a no for me.

You know nothing about buildings being good for storage, great hall is good for single player to live in pr for decor and stone tower while space efficient is the most tedious way to store stuff for me. Both buildings are cheap as fuck, so its not about price.
Let warehouse be expensive to build. Idk, 2000 blocks 4000 stone 3000boards 100 steel bars 500 glass 100 hardened leather 50 silk cloth(for whatever reason) 200 ropes and 500 tar sticks i don't care. As long as it provide ease of storage I want it.

Pls kill me, I was sure Great Hall, with its huge surface, 3 floors (last one is small, I admit) plus cellar is a great way to store anything. If you need one building for food and curios and another for building materials like metals and cloth, for example, then a 3rd for gear and gilding, then a 4th for silk-moths, etc, then both Towers and Great Halls can be tightly packed, with all doors facing the same alley, for example, 2 buildings on the same side of the alley, 2 on the other side. But still, Towers have more floors, but the price of having each of those floors so tiny is making them kind of ugly and not a pleasure to use for storage. I'd go for storage in Great Halls any day.

Storage Houses of the middle ages never had more than 2 floors, am I wrong? So your suggestion would simply take even more land surface for the same number of cupboards than a bunch of Great Halls with doors facing all the same direction.

My 2 cents.

PS: I know, people tend to consider Great Halls palaces, but they are really just big buildings. They are just as good for role-playing or for storage. They are simply big.

Edit: As you can bring your cart (not wagon, though) into any other house, you can also drag it with you inside a tower or Great Hall at any floor of it. Since horses don't know how to climb steps and usual wagons (apparently not carts, why?) are not good at climbing steps either, I doubt a wagon could be used anywhere else than on the ground floor of a storage house (be it a Great Hall or a Tower). Unless we learn to build long wide low incline ramps for horses and wagons. And then those would have to use exactly 50% of the floor surface each, to be honest about it.

As a rule of thumb, everything that makes life easyer and less boring/grinding for players is a great idea. Everything that makes the game harder is crap coming from sadistic tendencies of Jorbtar helped by the few players with the same kind of disorders.

I agree that you can put so many cupboards in a building that it will be hard to move inside, you can save land space with tower and make doing your work nightmare. This is exactly what I want to avoid. Great halls are way better than stone towers and could probably be enough for one or two casual players.
I'm part of a big group, land space isn't something we need to save, we need easy access to our stuff, room to move about and not to kill eachother in the process.

Not haveing more than 2 floors isn't a problem. Land space isn't a problem either.

For now i guess I'll have to build few hundred large chests, considered garden sheds for a while but their hitbox makes them hard to work with.

IMHO downside of great hall is that you have to walk through it to reach the stairs, thus it takes longer than a tower to reach the top floor. YMMV.

Metal cabinets don't decay outside and there is already a thread to make it bigger (I personally think it's not unreasonable if they would be the same storage size as cupboards). Solves your problem in a more elegant way if implemented.

But this is a great idea, I do not understand why there is no delight from it? Warehouse, which is adapted only for storage of wood / barrels / boats / carts, and anything, without the ability to place furniture there. The great hall is still for parties, feasts, and beauty. And the tower is a great place to place weapons and / or personal chambers for you and your friends.) Why use residential buildings for other than their intended purpose?
