Im against it.
Why did you decided that you can plant thousands of crops and get all profits without any problems? 2000 crops must be a hard challenge.

3x3 is way too much, but 3x1 sounds more fair to me.

No need for a 2k tile farm to be annoyed by farming. Farming currently isn't fun at all. It's something that can't be ignored, and that has become very tedious. Being able to harvest at a faster rate would help a little bit.

Btw it's fun to see who everyone is pretending like nobody uses bots, or that you only need a 10x10 field to have everything you need.

I live in a 6 people village, and I can assure you farming is boring as hell, even with small fields. You need tons of wheat and barley for baking, tons of hemp and flax for strings and cloths, as many poppy as you can to have a decent chance to get pods for first aid, and a bunch of other crops for recipes and a few other things. Plus whatever u can get for animal feed, because if your cook wants to do cheese, he'll need lots of animals reproducing and lots of food to keep them alive.

It's a task with no excitement, no real choices, no wandering around, no nothing.
A miner has to find the ores, sometimes gets a gem, sometimes fights..
A forager has to explore, can choose where to go and what to pick, find new places and meet people..
Likewise a hunter goes around, fights, and like the forager has a certain progression making his job a bit less monotonous (we all know the feeling of finally hunting your first bear, or your first q150 animal, and so on...)
The farmer has nothing. Quality drops at random, you don't get to farm new things going forward, you don't get to go around, or to drop something nice from your crops. No wonder it's one of the main tasks they use bots for. I would too if I knew how.

So yeah, give us a 3x1 scythe, and/or a 1x1 fast 1handed tool to farm with, so we can at least hold a bucket

You need to make 5 accounts and farm 400 tiles on each simultaneously. Gets done real fast with area select.

so the answer is to spawn alts to do the job quicker? not really likeing that idea.

But then again to the OP a 2000 farm? why do you need that. please explain so we can see where you are coming from

I still prefer mining to farming as it work right now. At least it's something "active" to do. Use rust root to find the ores, attempt to re-track your steps underground to get to such ores, play minesweeper to avoid cave-ins, build supports if u can't, enjoy the occasional gem, fight the occasional slime.

Farming is just "shift click to sow the area, wait 5 hours, repeat, wait 5 hours, repeat". Then same for harvesting. The only "active" part of farming is sorting seeds... which can mostly be done automatically with a cupboard.
No rewards, no treasure hunt, no combat (ok, this is a good thing), no nothing. It's just like playing a slot machine, trying to hit that random +5, while most of the time you either go negative, stay same, or gain +1.

Clearly we need a farm troll.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Sounds silly, and I don't like how combat works, but I'd be ok with anything that makes being a farmer feel less like a robot and more like a player right now

"minigame every industry, infinity capacity"

yea yea i already prospected every ore in a long radius, and it was a rat race between neighbours, now im late to minehole rat race

this is quickly becoming a poverty simulator, inb4 farming limited by terrain depletion, there was a note about limiting farming in last dev stream

and then minigame cooking, and then minigame table manners, maybe then your subjective fun criteria will be met
