Ugh, why'd you have to tell him this? It was funny watching him complain about something he didn't understand

And how should one know that!

In case your point is that the official client should backport QoL features from the customs: I agree.

Someone being here since 2013 not knowing this should remind that the still missing manual (for the official client and the possible interactions with the game world that a player needs to know about) is too low on your todo list.

Of course not. A game is allowed to have rules that you need to learn.

Based on this quote, I'm pretty sure it's not on the to-do list at all.

Being in a manual would pretty much be the definition of a mechanic you need to learn.

Being in a manual to me is a mechanic you read about, not a mechanic you learn. Learning video game mechanics imply doing so via experience. I suppose I can see how someone's definition of learning might differ though.

Quite clearly, in the discussion you quoted from, the context was mechanics that need to be explicitly learned, vs those that are completely intuitive and require no explicit introduction.

Given the context and the poster's history and open feelings toward people playing this game and "learning" things, that wasn't the assumption I made. We're talking about an individual who posted "Die noobs, die" in a thread complaining about the steep penalties for learning about snake bites.

I was refering to a manual about how to interact with the game (how to operate the client to control the character and manipulate the world). Trying all possible combinations was fine when there was a joystick and less buttons than a human has fingers on one hand, but even then the arcade machines had labels next to the buttons.

I don't think of having to find out by trial and error to eg. hold ctrl when clicking something in an inventory to drop it but to hold the same modifier when clicking the world with something to not drop it as being a meaningful experience to the user.
