Don't project your own viewpoint onto rest of the population. Meteor is already "a thing" and it works fine, this thread is merely suggesting expanding upon a successful proven implementation.

I project not only my viewpoint - we have small village, we can't compete with realms, but with current system we can't even try, because first try we loose 50% of character progression.
This system punish us for even trying. First error and we loose everything.
This is not PvP system, but rather WaS (wolfs and sheeps) where top factions just find alone sheeps in woods
