I think Dolphins would be a great addition. Could make some friendly, some not so friendly. I think it would be interesting to have serial killer/ rapist dolphins roaming the sea waiting for a hearthing to plob down into the water to attack.

Big oceans are perfect for exploratory events:
- Ghost Ship: battle the dead for some loot
- Save the Castaway: take a shipwrecked NPC to land
- Treasure Island
- Shipwrecks

Barnacles... knarrs should have buildup of barnacles. The better they are, the worse they get.

New natural resource: coral reefs. Coral could be used to craft jewelry and fancy silverware.

New dungeon: belly of the whale. You get eaten by a whale Pinocchio style and you have to fight your way through its insides.

+1 On adding virtually anything to oceans. Travelling in a knarr as you go to a quest giver on another continent is rediculously boring since it's just "click in one direction then read reddit for 15 minutes".
