that and as well as too small pens and stuff is a result of somebody getting fucked inreal good enough that the game punishing them for having no time to play in this way is simply unfair.

I know they aren't real, lol, but even so ... there should be some consequences for cruelty to animals even in a game I think. :)

players are cruel to other living players what makes you think they will care for none living animals :P

:) - you have a point, but maybe they would if there were consequences that affected their production/progress. ;)

Anyway, looks like boshaw and I are on our own with this line of thought, so the sardine syndrome prevails. :)

I can already see myself forget about letting them out and those will starve outside. Nice idea but not very casual friendly.
Beside possibility of those to despawn.

By all means be against the idea but I think this is pretty much over-reacting to it tbh.
I'm not suggesting (and from my interpretation, neither was boshaw) that we add disease and madness or that we need to spend hours a day taking care of them ... simply that the animals may not breed as efficiently and the quality of their produce may fall when stuffed into minute pens surrounded by their herds carcasses. :)

:D ... talking of which, I would love to be able to build runs around rabbit and chicken hutches so that they could go in and out as they please, obviously then they would still eat from the hutch regardless and if they were in this enclosure they would be immune from despawning. It would just be nice to see them. :)

I think that its a good idea.
Happiness would increase over time, decrease when they see somebody of their mates killed, or dead in the vicinity.
It could also decrease if the animal is blocked by an object when its moving.
It could also decrease if they don't have food.
It could also decrease if you don't shear/milk them often enough.
Also, horses would become sad if you dont ride them often enough.
