i like how we get unnecessary randomness on farming and taming and straight fixed to the second timers on local resources.

If you can't tame an animal properly, I have doubt's you'll be able to care for the poor beast too. Making a change here would only allow more virtual animal abuse.

I have to fricken laugh at all the nay-sayers to this, since they seem to think that EVERYONE has a simple 8 hr work schedule, many of us have schedules that are WELL beyond that, I myself work a 4 day schedule, 12hrs each day, with 3 days off work, BUT I also attend classes the 3 days I am off that range from 6- 10 hours. Do not assume that timers with RNG are not a hindrance when trying to make plans for game time AND having a professional life.

That's because you're literally a sprucecap that has no idea how to build a meaningful industry or succeed at Haven in general. Quite literally nobody enjoys having to schedule their life around doing in-game industry. There's a reason steel bots exist.

I got to be really good at leaving enough fodder around for 3-4 days of unattended time. I kept a separate coop for roosters if I didn't want hatching chicks... You learn how to adapt to such things.

What you can't do is restart a steel crucible or make up for missing a taming window if you cannot get on to deal with the game. Everything else you can manage around a busy schedule.

Well, as part of a group of 3 working adults, with no access to computers during the day and other things to do than check several times a day, we do find it a big deal. As I said, we never attempted taming before because of the time required. We can pause silk if we're away for a day or more, plan tree planting cause we know when we're going to play for 2h+, and crops just grow along.

I honnestly thought you'd see the issues I'm raising. Maybe it's only us, but I don't think so.

Why make a topic now you might ask ?

Ants wrote:If it's too much hassle, let other people do the work and trade stuff for the animals. It's easier that way and the animals you'll get will be higher q than wild ones.

Taming is only worthwhile at world start.

Well that's why. Check trading topics this world... I made a joke on shubla's trade topic, cause to get a horse would cost me 5000 blueberries.
The truth is most of them want tokens/pearls/local ressources. Sorry, but we're not gonna pay $$ to have access to that, and we're not botting to get the infamous pearls or ressources.

Sorry if I come as whiny, but we're just sad that progression is walled behind the randomness of the taming sessions. It just feels like we have to choose between progress or IRL on that one.

Edited because my old comment wasn't very useful.

Trading is indeed a problem this world. There's nothing that new or casual players can provide that big groups need and the travel system make meeting with traders difficult. I think it's more important to fix that than the taming system.

I suggest buffing foraging.

Well, we had several pens of dozens of animals last world, no problem. We just did not tame them.
It's not like filling throughs is hard you know. But thanks for your input.

Thank you for showing we're not the only one here. I find it ridiculous people are saying I "only" need to connect twice or thrice a day, every 8 hours. Yeah, I'm usually away for around 10h per day, just for work. So went I saidt I had to rush home to check on the taming attempts, I meant it. So there is no "let's get a drink" or anything for days/weeks, if you want to tame.

I'm just asking to either prolong the taming stance to longer time, or make taming attempts a 24h timer so people can actually chose a convenient time for them.
If I could leash an anima at 9pm, and know every day at 9pm I can attempt taming, this would mean I can just get normally with my life and still enjoy this side of HnH, instead of feeling frustrated and trapped with either no animals/shit trades/needing to make my life revolve around taming Rng.

Well tbh, I never made steel in my 8 years playing HnH because of this, same as taming. However, with Ardeness client hopefully I'll be able to bot it and have access to it this world.
That's how sad this stuff is. I profoundly hate botting in this game, but I'm delighted someone shared it for such an annoying thing.
And again, if it would be every 24h, it would be fine.

Anyway, I really, really hope Jorbtar can make a small adjustment that I'm sure would help a lot of players. Please do more than considering it ;)

Then you must be lucky to not have a job that keeps you away from home for too long every day.

Please try to imagine you would have one, then reconsider the request from the insight you'll hopefully gain from this hypothetical...

Just reduce the time it takes to tame an animal to like 1-2 hours like it always was in legacy.

Nah, would be too quick. Some RL days is ok, as long as it's compatible with having a life...
