Imo an opinion is only worth something when the holder of the opinion has a good understanding of the topic their opinion related to. I define “spruce caps” as players who do not fully understand the game and how it is MOST efficiently played. Thus, spruce caps opinions should not dictate how the game is changed.
Now, on the other hand spruce caps will save this game. Long term players who’ve been playing for a years are probably not going to quit as easily as a spruce cap. The developers first goal for this game should be to keep the he population of the server up and as high as possible. They recently have shown that they aren’t too good at that goal. Examples supporting this statement: how they handled recent bug exploit, calling people spruce caps, admitting they don’t read C&I threads, shit posting, and lack of communication with the majority of their player base.
My experience is slightly different because I actually speak to the developers over things other than forums. I feel like they communicate with me and respect my input, they respond with their opinions and sometimes I can see their perspective, even when I don’t I still respect it because it’s ultimately their game. However the way they behave on the forums I still witness and get slightly discouraged. Their public response skills aren’t top notch.
They could fix this by simple gathering a group of players who actually play the game and show dedication and have that group as their connection between the masses and their selves. They lack time for properly handling public relations and should fix it by getting more people to do it for them.
