Don't want another Salem 2.0 farming system implemented into Haven, reasons why didn't stay playing Salem. Farming is just fine.

Are you dumb or just a spruce? It wasn't till this world where teleportation got nerfed overall.

Even in the worlds before, there was still a hell of a lot of walking around.

To quote the lead dev of Escape From Tarkov, a hyper-realistic FPS whose main selling point is its extreme realism and unforgiving nature:

Realism is not fun.

This is a great statement when you're talking about a game, however, too many people make a blanket statement out of it to pretend that nothing in a video game should be anything more than an abstraction because it will add nothing fun to the game. Beyond that, I think I made my statement above regarding farming simulation. It's just too complex, and there are farming simulators out there that do it close to right (none of which I play because I play "SimFarm" with a real vegetable garden).

Turning farming, the most dull and repetitive and 'necessary' task in the game into a multi-step pain in the fucking ass will yield no fruit. It could be built UPON but not be made more difficult/hampered. Expand upward, not downward.

Crops should also take 3-8 months (in-game time) to grow.

For realism purposes.

There's a reason agriculture took tens of thousands of years to become the norm. Make farming an end game thing !

can we please stay on topic? this thread is about the farming mechanics in the game, not about realism in games

on topic: no till farming would remove tedium, not add it. making yield variable adds depth, also not tedium. yield is a good abstraction for pests and nutrient deficiencies etc. soil quality or soil health itself is an abstraction of the same. farming as it is in the game is incredibly abstracted, simple, and boring. it is one of the shallower mechanics in the game
i guess they never miss huh
