Metal armor with metal gildings. Cloth, fur, leather respectively.

Why would that be more realistic? You don't repair plate armor with gold inlays and trinkets. You reshape and weld damaged areas. Using nuggets to repair with makes the most sense. I think quality should matter. For leather and cloth armor, you use stitching and reinforcements.

it should be a repair bench type structure and using leather stripes/ore nuggets. anything else and its not worth repairing just craft a new one.
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.

whatever it's made of

but armor isn't made of nuggets and he wants to use those to repair it

nuggets just give more precision. e.g. a bronze nugget could repair a bronze helmet by 5%, whereas a bar would repair 50% of it.

no, if thats the case then thered be no point to repairing, repairing *must* be cheaper than building it from scratch
a more proper way would be if a nugget repaired 10-15%

and plus, if the risk of armor just disappering went away, armor could be made gildable too

Gold inlays is stupid example, sorry.
People used rivets for that, and easily you can also use metal buttons, scales or buckles to make a bushcraft repairs for damaged parts of your armor.

"Gold Inlays' is a terrible train of thought on that, yes... Yeah, rivets and such would be a good line of thinking.

I really didn't mean to go to the absurd on that. Gilding always will be things like gold inlays and decorations, even after messing with the mechanics in this game for so long.

Why not just mash old armor sets together, repairing them with bits of eachother.

Agree with you, but some of them looks like not a decoration, but like a repairing part or reinforcement part. Like hide layers, patches, etc
