Will the "whale boobie" work when the whale is dead?

I don't see why not. Boob milk doesn't magically vanish when the mama dies.

You see. In order for the milk to come out of the boobie, there needs to be some nerve and hormonal signalling.
If the mommy whale is dead. Those things might not work.

Other animals already give milk when dead. This is H&H canon.

Also I decided to google this, and it's wonderfully creepy.

TL;DR:
"You need to have a relationship with the whale..."

"It would be hazardous to try milking any cetacean in the wild (although scientists have done so with recently deceased specimens)."

"In captivity, though, the animals can be trained to tolerate it."

Edit: And by canon I meant Jorb said it directly in a bug report, something to the effect of "It should be this way, yes?" As in, milking dead animals in H&H is entirely intended.

Yeah, I guess it is possible to some extent, but how much milk would you really get from a dead animal? Milking a whale seems somewhat high tech and hard to do using just your hands:

Whale tiddy.

Sure a pump is a modern device, but they're not required for other animals that also have pumps used on them. It's probably an efficiency thing.

The orca did not seem to have much of an external breast. How would you get the milk out of there?
