It does sound a bit interesting, but I think it should be implemented along side the current curio gain method. Basically you can go to your study and choose to lock an item in your study until its finished(no removal whatsover) and in return you gain lp in the way shubla suggested.

Well of course that would also happen.

But that would be nice? Why you shouldn't be able to study gems a bit before you gild them?
Disabling gilding curiosities that have been partially used could also be a thing, if one wants to avoid that.

You could then study, and craft with the same items. They would have to use exp when put in your study, instead of when completed.

I don't think that would be a good idea. It would force people to replace their curios all the time for max gain. Which is not a good thing, as it was tried out once and people hated it.

I don’t think you realize how good for LP the gems actually are.

LP of them could be reduced to reflect the changes.

One option could be that you would get half of the LP by second and half of it when you study the curiosity completely, which would give you some reasons to study things like gems completely.

Most of the gems are probably studied anyway.

Actually, if the q drop was liner, your LP gains would speed up the longer you study it. The only way your gains would slow down would be if the q dropped at a rate that slowed down faster than your lp gain would speed up.

If lp is related to square root of quality, then quality is related to the lp squared.
lp = sqrt(q/10)
q = (lp^2) * 10

When I suggested the idea, I meant for the lp gain to be liner. The q drop would start fast and slow down. Thinking about it again, it might be fun if the q did drop linearly. Of course, in all suggestions the time it takes the q to get to zero would be equal to the curios study time.
