I suggested before in another thread the idea of specifically using my cultivar idea to create crops that can actually grow underground.

I think some of the crops we grow now would probably not do terribly in a zero sun environment, but some would definitely not do well, and that we could simply selectively breed to get a couple crops that dont mind sunless environment.

I was thinking mostly for decoration.

with the amount of time it takes to burn pots and the need for constant mulch and water and replacing pots with higher q over and over again, I dont think that pots are ever going to replace farming. There will always be farming for mass producing quality for mulch and animal feed, and the q mechanics can be shifted to make natural farming still more relevant for q raising too.

I think the main reason people were buttblasted is that the change was implemented too late in the world when a lot of people had put effort in the credo specifically so they could grow things like bluebells. Protip: implement credo changes when a new world start or discuss them with the players before implementing them. Otherwise, it might make people feel like their efforts were meaningless.

Which had been requested quite loud and often (to only return one item on harvest for stuff like bluebells, glimmer, bulbs) back then from users that wanted to prevent gardening pots from destroying foraging - instead we got mechanics that multiplied yield even more, while reducing the resources required, so now one needs to find an item once to mass produce it from then on in unlimited quantities of ever increasing quality.

Also, wrong.

The main reason was that whole profession was reduced to dust, where You can grow only few things that almost nobody cares for as well as unreasonable delete of few other things that should stay just because people cried (and will always do, despite whatever action will take place). As well as calling those minor changes is very wrong, because clearly, minor changes wouldn't bring so much people to complain in the first place.

I gave pretty much good explanation as to why changes were bad and why should be reverted and that, deleting stuff brought completely opposite effect of what was wanted to be achieved.

I was not butthurt that I did gardner and now cry because profession was almost ruined. I just simply couldn't stand such bad development patch and wanted to give feedback how and why, while also trying to get answers why in the first place. So remember, not everybody are butthurt, but some people just don't wanna watch how it goes down that easly.

As for idea, no. It's really unnecessary and I could see it as decoration but normally no, despite it would allow to live completely in underground maybe?

Fix for gardening: remove everything that is "foraged" and make it into a new thing... maybe start it from foraging like farming and WWW, but leave it distinct and separate. Otherwise, just remove gardening pots. people complaining about foraging being dead are not the same ones that predicted that this is where pots would have ended up. (Might be a few of them, I don't remember names that far back, just several people calling it out from experience in Salem.)

Probably should wait for a world reset to fix, but if the "new" is as worthy of the gardening credo as everyone thinks bluebells are, then you'll get grumbling, but the nerd rage shouldn't be as bad.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Ah. Sorry for the misunderstanding, then. And you have a point, the update wasn't minor and it did ruin the entire profession since there was nothing worthwhile left to plant. I had skimmed the update thread and missed a lot of good feedback
