Will have a look at that.

This is a classic example of external scripts being used, but the script being 100% convenient to the OPs liking, so we end up with these threads that go:

"devz plz fix <insert personal issue caused by external client> becuz my <insert client bot> doesnt work like I want it so it your problem"

I was quite confused as to how this problem even existed until seeing this post. When *I* farm everything ends up in stacks of 50, but apparently that's only because everyone but me is using a shitty bot. Fix your bot.I use the default client farming bot btw

Having cave dust not auto stack makes mine sweeper easier. You should put cave slime and cave dust in a barrel which you keep next to your mine's water barrel. You can use shift click to combine stuff in your inventory real fast

This really is a next level thread.

löl. I didn't recognize the issue myself, and was surprised by it, so that would explain a lot.

I shift + right clicked the seeds from the ground which is a default client feature and I'm asking for them to stack when collected in this way

How they got there and their quantities doesn't matter

While the seeds might not be an issue except for people that don't have a proper script, it is an issue for other items that naturally drop to the ground and don't stack when you pick them up--cave dust is the one that pops directly into my head. Slime is another (as pointed out by SnuggleSnail). I'm sure that if we think hard on it, we can come up with a couple more examples.

And they can get that way in the default client if you just overflow your inventory.

I specifically don't want cave dust to stack when picked up because that will make mine sweeper harder. Not only would you have to keep track of how much dust you currently have, you would have to do it multiple piles because the quality is different from tile to tile.

I don't even want it to only work with shift pickup, but I suppose that would be an acceptable compromise.

Good point, but you're already picking up and mousing over. However, dropping it is what I do with 90% of it I find, anyway, so is it that big a deal to drop it after you "count" it? It'd be a change to get used to that'd be a huge pain in the ass (and probably the head for a bit), but if overall behavior of the game was this base, I'm sure we could adapt.

There are mining strategies where people mine a line of known safe tiles, then mass-pick the dust along that line (which is put into the inventory on a first-free slot basis) to then be able to mouse over in reverse order of pickup to get the quantity to color code the unstable tiles using pavement.
This is way less clicky than having to pick up each dust one by one and would be gone in case auto-stacking on pickup would happen.

The ability to stack stuff already in an inventory (through the flower menu, as suggested) would not only solve OPs issue but also be useable in any item grid container, without taking away not-stacking for the ones who like it.

How I mine depends on what I'm doing, but this is one of a few things I do do. I never mass collect dust unless I really don't care what's there because the standard "picking" algorithm seems random (neither FIFO nor FILO).
