People are making alts just for the sake of harvesting honey and letting them die every few weeks, so I have no idea why you think a little preventative craft/mechanic would be irrelevant

Some sort of special beekeeper's clothing sounds more appropriate and was suggested gazillion of times already.

Unfortunately, alts are still cheaper solution though and people will keep it going anyway.
