I wouldn't even care if something like this did anything mechanically, aesthetically this would be pretty neat.

Kind of like meeting a dryad in the woods, but that ghost was once a player.

That'd be insanely cool.

I was thinking yesterday that ghosts could be spawned if a dead hearthling had a crime committed on him. They could just be a Nidbane, a separate thing, or even something the player of the dead character could control. Perhaps it only happens when you're murdered, and/or if your murderer was significantly stronger than you, would be kind of cool to see the ghosts of noobs killed by meanie-weanies could annoy or harm said meanies.

Could also just be that murder causes a natural Ghostly Nidbane to spawn, as well as a standard one you could make with a fetter, to give murder some, if you ask me, much needed further penalties to committing.
Total misplay.

It'd be amusing if you get murdered by someone a lot stronger than you, you can continue to play that character as a poltergeist. Your spirit becomes attached to their Personal Claim, Village, Kingdom - Or what have you, maybe even the murderer themselves. It becomes semi-corporeal and is given the ability to trespass, rummage and theft, still leaving scents as normal and losing SHP as normal. The poltergeist has 50% of the hp of the dead character, when it reaches 0 shp it becomes completely incorporeal and can't mess with anything. The SHP could either slowly regenerate, or never come back.

It could be a neat method to keep people from permanently stealing peoples corpses so folks can't bury them to get their points back. You can still do it to be rude to other players, but you get to suffer small annoyances in return

Haven, become what Ultima Online should have been. You're already a thousand times mechanically deeper than UO you just need to add sexy content.

Yes, by actively avoiding what you suggested they should do in that first sentence. This "half-baked realistic shit" is part of the reason I play, exactly because it sets it apart from all the other shit-stain carbon-copy MMO's out there.

Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
