Anti-socialization = bad for a social game.

I once had a friend bring me medicine in Boston and I promptly infected him by accidentally coughing on his face. It's funny memory now but back then, I think neither of us was laughing.

I think some degree of disease would be a nice addition. But it would need an easy-to-spot graphic effect, so that players can actually avoid sick players (maybe if you're sick you're slowed down?).

Haven needs some more survival-like features, because right now you are very unlikely to die from anything that isn't PvP or wildlife attacking you (and you being unprepared for it)...

I could see some visual merit behind adding an animal disease mechanic so people are forced to give animals more space (realistically it'd be a number of smaller pens because animal UI has a bad habit of clumping on pen borders).

I'm not sure the effect is worth the annoyance though.

The annoyance is the point.

Short of sadism, annoyance shouldn't be the point unless it adds enough immersion to the game to be worth it. Or enough relief once the annoyance has been outgrown (tinder drills for example).

Annoyance is not necessarily bad, as long as it creates a challenge for the player. Haven could use some more challenges, especially when it comes to village management.
Animal or plant diseases could be introduced. There should be steps one can take to reduce risks, but it shouldn't be something you can avoid entirely. This would prove a challenge for those who live inside a village the entire time. Farmers might want to keep livestock in smaller amounts and separate pens, to avoid the disease spreading to every animal, and maybe feed them regularly to reduce risks of diseases. You might want to always keep some seeds stockpiled, in case your crops wither and you need to replant. Same for trees and bushes.
Other than losing your stuff, diseases should also comport some actual risk for the player in order to be worth having. Maybe diseased animal could have a chance to get hostile.

Surely it would need a lot of works to decide the details and think about the consequences. But anything that makes a farmer's life more interesting is welcome.

I agree. Adding additional tedium to farming and animal husbandry is a good thing.

Yeah, survival games are - for the most part - about the tedium of survival.

That's what causes people to socialize and play together, or live together, too.
