On new players starting during winter

Yeah...I had a villager log on today for the first time in a while....
I'm at a lost- I don't really know how to tell him to do stuff.

Possibly we need more animals during the winter to allow winter to be same what interesting and easier for noobs.

the string from hard bark was a good idea. allows for really early string gathering.

But the water freezes over and it needs a pickaxe to break it, so they can't make string either.

Does new wellspring freeze as well?

Surely jorb and loftar didn't remove all water sources.

Maybe jorb needs to add a destroy option to ice to allow newbies to get to pockets of water...
But didn't even think of that orginally..jeez winter is toxic
